Macs are machines with hidden functionalities you may have missed. Continue reading to learn all the wonderful things you can do on your Mac.
You may have left the Windows environment before, but since this operating system occupies the majority of the market share, most apps used by businesses are compatible with Windows. However, some of them might not be compatible with macOS. Furthermore, Apple is trying to break into the gaming universe, but Windows still stands strong when it comes to running the latest games.
Fortunately, you don’t have to purchase a Windows computer or laptop to run these games or apps. macOS allows users to run Windows with a virtualization application like VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop, or VMware Fusion.
Alternatively, you can partition your Mac’s hard drive to run Windows alongside macOS using Boot Camp Assistant.
Password Protect PDF
PDFs are universally used, and everyone can access them. However, you must password protect your PDF document if you share something confidential. This way, only the recipient and the sender will be able to access the document and the contents within it. You can learn how to password protect PDFs on your Mac by clicking https://setapp.com/how-to/password-protect-pdf.
Capture the Screen
If you need to share screenshots regularly, it can be a chore to do so without learning keyboard shortcuts.
Unlike Windows users, Mac users don’t have the PrtSc key on the keyboard. So it would be best if you learned shortcuts. For instance, press Shift + Command + 3 to capture the entire screen, and the image will be saved on your desktop.
You can press Shift + Command + 4 to capture a portion of the screen. When you press these keys, you’ll see a crosshair that can be adjusted to capture the screen area you need.
You can also press Shift + Command + 5 to get more screen capture options.
Do you still use pen and paper to conduct business meetings or deals? Not anymore!
You can electronically sign PDF documents that are emailed to you. There’s no need to print the document out, sign it, and scan it back in. Mac allows you to sign the document right in the Mail application.
For electronically signing documents, drag the document into the email you are sending and then hover over it. At the top right, you will see a button. Click the button to get Markup options and then select the option for signing documents.
You can use Mac’s webcam to add the signature by holding a signed piece of paper.
Type Unique Characters
Symbols and letters are not the only things available on your Mac keyboard. There is a wide array of special characters that you can type on your Mac. For instance, you can press the E key to type accents.
To see the list of Special Characters, go to the Edit menu, and you will get a range of symbols. Then, you can drag them into your documents.
Split the Screen
Macs allow their users to work with two apps or windows side-by-side. This way, you can boost your efficiency. The feature is known as Split View.
If you are still using Mojave or older, left-click on an application’s maximize button and drag it to position on the right or left-hand side of the display.
But if you are using Catalina, left-click and hold the maximize button, and you’ll see a dropdown menu. From the options, you can select the Enter Full Screen option, Tile Window to Right of Screen, or Tile Window to Left of Screen.
Additionally, if you have a secondary screen, you can move the active window to the second screen.
Thanks to this feature, users get more screen real estate and eliminate distractions. For example, you can use one screen to finish your tasks and the other for following sports scores or browsing your social media accounts.
Preview is one of the most under-appreciated applications and also the most powerful. The app allows users to perform tasks they are usually stuck doing using more elaborate and expensive apps like Photoshop.
You can open a picture in the Preview application and then navigate the app’s menu and interface to find out what they’re capable of.
For instance, you can use the application to crop the images. Draw a selection using the Rectangular Selection tool and hit the Command + K key. You can also select the Crop option from the Tools menu. Or, you can go to the Edit Toolbar and browse through the complicated selection of options. Finally, you can choose either Smart Lasso or use the Alpha tool.
You can accomplish the above mentioned things and more using your Mac. But remember to keep exploring the features and keep the software up-to-date.
